Under the Never Sky (Under the Never Sky #1) by Veronica Rossi

12568718Book Blurb (from Goodreads):
Aria is a teenager in the enclosed city of Reverie. Like all Dwellers, she spends her time with friends in virtual environments, called Realms, accessed through an eyepiece called a Smarteye. Aria enjoys the Realms and the easy life in Reverie. When she is forced out of the pod for a crime she did not commit, she believes her death is imminent. The outside world is known as The Death Shop, with danger in every direction.

As an Outsider, Perry has always known hunger, vicious predators, and violent energy storms from the swirling electrified atmosphere called the Aether. A bit of an outcast even among his hunting tribe, Perry withstands these daily tests with his exceptional abilities, as he is gifted with powerful senses that enable him to scent danger, food and even human emotions.

They come together reluctantly, for Aria must depend on Perry, whom she considers a barbarian, to help her get back to Reverie, while Perry needs Aria to help unravel the mystery of his beloved nephew’s abduction by the Dwellers. Together they embark on a journey challenged as much by their prejudices as by encounters with cannibals and wolves. But to their surprise, Aria and Perry forge an unlikely love - one that will forever change the fate of all who live UNDER THE NEVER SKY

The first book in a captivating trilogy, Veronica Rossi’s enthralling debut sweeps you into an unforgettable adventure.

My Review:
This was another book which Angelina picked out for me which I chose to read. I will admit that I tried reading it before when I wasn't to into reading and found it really confusing for some reason and looking back on it now I am not quite sure what was so confusing about it at that time that caused me to stop reading but it doesn't matter anymore because I picked it up again years later and I enjoyed it more this time.
The plot in this book was fairly boring at the beginning because nothing much happened. There was a couple pages of action at the beginning which set up the rest of the book nicely and gave a good base to build on for Aria's character development but the next 50 or so pages was more about getting to know the characters than anything else. However once you get past those 50 pages you have a fast paced plot with bucket loads of action which keeps you turning the page.
At the end of this book, Aria was a strong female character that new what she wanted and I feel sorry for anyone that get in her way but she wasn't like that in the beginning. In the beginning she was all words but no bite and whenever she got in trouble she always needed someone else to save her. If Perry were not there I do not think that she would last very long. But as the book progressed Perry starts to show he the ropes of how to survive in the outside world and then she starts to develop fast into the girl that she was in the end. There are also some surprises to her character, some of which were predictable and some of which I never saw coming. We do not see as much character development in Perry as we do in Aria but he does kind of soften up during the book the longer that he hangs out with Aria. I have to admit that I started off not liking him but as the book goes on he kind of grows on you.
All in all I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.
